The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK) has planned a festive celebration to mark the 200th anniversary of Berlin's Museum Island this weekend. From Friday, May 30, to Sunday, June 1, 2025, visitors are invited to participate in the "Island Festival."

Taking place throughout the three-day event, over 60 guided tours and numerous creative workshops will offer insights into the history, architecture, and collections of Museum Island. These activities aim to provide a rich understanding of the UNESCO World Heritage site, established in 1999.

One of the festival's highlights will be a vibrant stage program at the Kolonnadenhof, featuring performances by renowned Berlin cultural institutions like the Deutsches Theater, Volksbühne, Berliner Ensemble, Staatsoper Unter den Linden, and Komische Oper. Additionally, a new ZDF/arte documentary about Museum Island will have its world premiere during the festival.

The Island Festival Ticket grants access to all six museums on the island, with children and young people under 18 entering for free, and holders of an annual pass able to bring one additional person for free during the anniversary weekend. The festival's outdoor area will be open to all from 10 am to 10 pm on Friday, with free admission.

Another key event during the festival is the UNESCO World Heritage Day Ceremony, scheduled for Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 11 am. Additional activities include surprise offers, hands-on experiences, and a variety of other cultural events.

Museum Island's rich history and cultural significance make it a significant fixture in Berlin's landscape. The festival is part of a broader anniversary celebration, marking a milestone in the city's cultural journey.
