Updated swimming pool costs as of October
The Hanseatic City of Lübeck has announced a change in its swimming pool pricing structure, effective from October 1, 2025. The decision comes in response to rising energy and operating costs, as well as growing subsidy requirements from the municipal budget [1].
From next year, adults will be charged 7 euros for a visit to any of Lübeck's swimming pools. Reduced tickets for certain groups, such as children, young people, students, trainees, severely disabled persons from GdB 50, and holders of the Lübeck-Card, will cost 3.50 euros [2]. Children will pay 3 euros or 1.50 euros with discounts [3]. This marks a significant increase from the previous adult price of around 4.40 euros, which has been stable for eight years [5].
In comparison with other North German cities, Lübeck's prices now exceed typical charges, which tend to be lower (around 3-5 euros) [4]. However, Lübeck remains in the middle range when it comes to swimming pool entrance fees.
Despite the price increase, the new pricing structure aims to maintain a socially balanced cost coverage. The summer holiday ticket for children and bonus cards will also remain [6]. Children under three years and accompanying persons of disabled persons (B) will continue to have free entry [7].
The swimming pools in Lübeck include Central Bath, Swimming Pool Kücknitz, Sports Bath St. Lorenz, Moisling Outdoor Pool, and Schlutup Outdoor Pool [8]. You can find their locations on Google Maps, and for more information, visit the official website at luebecker-schwimmbaeder.de. The swimming pools also have an official presence on Facebook and Instagram under the handle @luebeckerschwimmbaeder [9].
The calculation for the swimming pool price increase is based on the Communal Charges Act Schleswig-Holstein [1]. The city administration emphasizes social balance in this decision, ensuring reduced prices for the aforementioned groups [2].
Contact information for Lübeck swimming pools includes a phone number (0451 122 4700) and email addresses (Info.LSB@lübeck.de) [10]. The decision to increase swimming pool entrance fees is a commitment by Lübeck to maintain swimming pool infrastructure as part of public services.
