Walk Wheel Cycle Trust Launches 'Active at Home' Lockdown Initiative
The Walk Wheel Cycle Trust has kicked off a four-week online feature, 'Active at Home', to keep UK families entertained and active during lockdown. The initiative, part of the trust's parent-focused newsletter, offers weekly challenges tied to different themes. Each week, families can explore a new theme. Starting with 'Wellbeing', they can move on to 'Keeping active', 'Being creative', 'Investigating', and wrapping up with 'Anything goes'. Chris Bennett, Head of Behaviour Change and Engagement at the trust, hopes this newsletter will provide fun and engaging activities for children stuck at home. The challenges range from designing the perfect child-friendly street to creating 'rainbow bling' bicycle helmets. Dame Sarah Storey, British Paralympian and Active Travel Commissioner for the Sheffield City Region, endorses the home learning pack, highlighting its potential to inspire young minds. Families can sign up to receive the weekly family newsletter, filled with cycling and walking tips alongside the 'Active at Home' feature. The trust aims to promote active lifestyles and safe streets for children, making this initiative a valuable resource during these unprecedented times.
