Wild Bottlenose Dolphins Available for Sale

The much-anticipated final event of the Dolphin Discovery Trail is happening tonight at The Peninsula Hotel. The auction, hosted by John Randall, will see the bidding for 62 dolphin statues, including the iconic Flippertron from Express, which has found its temporary home at the venue for the event.

Flippertron, designed and decorated by the Midnight Painters Club - Luke Gallie, Ben Smith, and Luke Webb - is one of the many unique statues that have been on display across Guernsey and Herm as part of the trail. Over 1,000 people used the Turfhunt app to find all of the dolphins, making it a beloved community project.

The auction is the culmination of the trail and will help fund the work of two charities, Autism Guernsey and the GSPCA. Steve Byrne, the GSPCA Manager, and Andrew Sparks, board member of Autism Guernsey, will deliver a special welcome message at 18:30.

The event will kick off with welcome drinks and canapés at 18:00, followed by the auction, which is expected to last from 18:30 to 19:30. During the break in the auction, a raffle will take place.

70 tickets have been sold for the auction event, and the public needs to purchase a ticket to attend. The fundraiser's website is available for bidding on the dolphin statues, with 27 already having reserve bids. The public can view the dolphins before the auction starts at 18:00.

As the media partner of the Dolphin Discovery Trail, Express is proud to be involved in the auction event. The proceeds from the Trail and the auction tonight will go towards supporting these two worthy causes.

The work of sponsors, artists, and the two charities benefiting from the trail is coming to an end, but the impact of this community project will be felt for a long time to come. Don't miss out on being a part of this special event and helping make a difference in the lives of those supported by Autism Guernsey and the GSPCA.
