"Yakutsk locals clean unauthorized waste site along Namtsir Path, action underscores local efforts towards environmental preservation in Mussooru.Net area"
In the heart of Siberia, Yakutsk, the world's coldest city, recently hosted its final ecological cleanup event as part of the "No to Garbage" ("Mусору.Нет") campaign. Organised by the Regional Operator "YakutskEcoNet" with the support of the "Sinet Spark" Charity Foundation, over 200 volunteers joined forces to clean up a significant amount of waste from the forest area along Namcyur Highway.
The accumulated waste, which had been visible on satellite images for many years, had caused significant damage to the environment and ecology of the picturesque forest zone. This was the third such cleanup event held this year, reflecting the growing concern among Yakutians for their city's environmental health.
Andrei Lebedev, General Director of "YakutskEcoNet", expressed his delight at the high level of participation, stating, "More city residents are participating in ecological events each year, indicating a high level of social activity and concern among Yakutians." Alexandra Kozulina, Director of the "Sinet Spark" Charity Foundation, thanked the volunteers for their contribution to the city's beautification and emphasised the importance of preserving and improving Yakutsk's environment.
Approximately 70 concerned Yakutsk residents actively participated in the cleanup, collecting and removing nearly 150 cubic meters of waste. Various companies also joined the effort, demonstrating a shared commitment to a cleaner, greener Yakutsk. The campaign's goal is to make Yakutsk cleaner, greener, and more comfortable to live in.
The cleanup event highlighted the need for continued work in cleaning and improving the city's forest areas. For detailed and up-to-date information about local environmental initiatives and upcoming events, visitors are encouraged to check the websites or social media pages of local Yakutsk environmental groups or contact the organisers directly.
