Youth Patrolling Lackford Lakes
The Young Wardens group at Lackford Lakes reserve offers a unique opportunity for young people aged 17 and above to immerse themselves in the great outdoors, support their Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award work, and make new friends in a natural setting.
These sessions, typically scheduled for several hours, such as 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM, take place at the Suffolk Wildlife Trust visitor centre and surrounding nature reserve. The interactive outdoor learning and group work are designed specifically for youth, with activities ranging from wildlife observation and habitat conservation work to group games and discussions that encourage friendship and teamwork.
The Young Wardens group is all about hands-on practical experience, and participants are encouraged to wear long trousers and sturdy footwear with thick soles. Don't forget to bring plenty of water and a packed lunch or snacks for the session.
For full event terms and conditions, including the event's meeting point (identified by the What3Words address: pencils.reckons.complies), and other important details like the price, contact Lackford Lakes centre at lackford.engagement@our website.
Please note that dogs, except for assistance dogs, are not permitted in the visitor center, blue Trail near the lakes or hides, or Sayer's Breck path and Church Walk. Mobility requirements for the sessions should be discussed prior to the event as they take place on areas away from footpaths.
Young Wardens must be dropped off by an adult who will provide emergency contact details. Children with inappropriate dress will not be able to participate in the Young Wardens session.
